A word I’ve come to hate

They’ve all gone, very far

Some are close to getting “it”

Others are not, but they are all far ahead of me.

Yet you ask me to wait!

You keep holding me back here

I know I have what it takes

I know the costs and the stakes

I can do more than their expectations

I know I can surpass their peaks.
Why do you keep holding me back?

Why won’t you let the spotlight shine on me?

Why won’t you let me go out and get a “name”?

Do you hate me so much that you don’t want to see me celebrated?

What is it about me that you have refused me to be revealed?

You keep whispering, in my ears, “Wait, wait”.

I’m getting tired of waiting …..

His reply

“And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

Your day of shewing is yet to come

I love you too much to put you out there prematurely.

You despise this desert experience, but you’re ignorant of the fact that it’s building you..

Wait, my child or you’ll rise  like smoke only to disappear without a trace.

Wait princess, lest you be like them, here today and gone tomorrow.

Wait for the appointed time

Wait for your time of “shewing”

They may have gone ahead of you but they are not ahead of you

Because when I’m ready to reveal to the world what I’ve been working on, in you, I accelerate you.

Have you not heard?  ‘They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they  shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not  be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.’

So wait, for in no time your wings will be ready to soar.”

More than half way gone

Flipping through the pages
Some nonchalantly
Some full of purpose

Laughs, love, tears, cares

197 pages closed already, only 168 left

What lies ahead?

Does a fulfilling 197 pages guarantee a fulfilling 168?

Two questions.
• I’ve had it all together since the 1st of January with no mistakes or disappointments, does that guarantee that my December 31st will be full of laughs, joy and contentment?

• From January till now, it’s been one challenge or the other.

Tears, fears and misery

I’ve fallen literally all through the year

I’ve had more tears than laughs.

I’ve not had a beautiful first half, is my year wasted?

A fulfilling first half doesn’t guarantee a beautiful second half neither does a miserable first half mean a bad end.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord.

Thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

For those who haven’t had a nice start, you have a role to play but are you willing to trust the one who knows this story better than you?

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your path.

Entrust the next chapters to this author and watch him direct and help you.

My Dual Citizenship

Hi bunnies
Some Sundays back, in church, we had an interactive session from Matthew 22 verse 15 where the Pharisees were trying to cage Jesus and challenged him with the question about payment of taxes, and we looked at Jesus’ epic response “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s”
We brought forth the different interpretations that have been given to what Jesus said, including those that said, “What Jesus meant was As a christian, you can serve God and still pay allegiance to ‘gods’ performing sacrifices and all”

We immediately refuted and corrected that interpretation. That is paying allegiance to Satan! So for the benefit of those that believe it’s totally ok to seek God on Sunday and “consult” other means behind the curtains. That is wrong! Matthew 6:24/Luke 16:13

We were now made to understand that Jesus Christ was only telling them to give the necessary dues to constituted authorities and at the same time, give honor to God.

Pay your tithe and pay your tax!

That was my muse for this post.

It only got me thinking, Jesus was talking about dual citizenship!

I’ve been saved so I’m a citizen of Heaven and a citizen Nigeria.

A person with dual citizenship is entitled to the rights of both nations and at the same time is obliged to obey the rules of both countries.
So as a Nigerian, I get to enjoy the rights of every Nigerian

And as a citizen of the kingdom, I get to enjoy and draw from everything made available in the kingdom.

I obey kingdom rules, At the same time, I obey the rules and regulations of my country Nigerian.

I live the life of God which assures me eternal life and I apply the principles of Jesus which guarantees success here on earth.

Now the only time a problem will arise is when obeying Nigeria means disobeying the rules of the kingdom.

You see when you have 2 things, you enjoy both but when it gets to a point where one has to go, you go for the one that is more important.

So as a Nigerian, Payment of taxes, obeying simple rules and regulations set by constituted authorities, giving honor to secular leaders (believers or not) and other things expected of me, I do.

Not doing them, will not speak well of me as a Christian. The only time I’m allowed to be defiant is when they’re going to make me compromise.

I only become a “rebel” when my convictions are being thwarted because I have the understand that

I am living as a citizen of heaven here on earth

I am a first a citizen of heaven before a citizen of Nigeria but that does not permit me to be disobedient to authorities in my country.

At the end of the lesson I was able to make my own little resolution to obey God and my leaders.

To be loyal as a citizen of heaven and a citizen of Nigeria and exploit both privileges.

18 But Jesus perceived  their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me,  ye  hypocrites?

19 Shew me the tribute money. And they  brought unto him a penny.

20 And he saith unto them,  Whose  is this image and superscription?

21 They  say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them,  Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are  Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.

22  When they had heard these words, they marvelled,  and left him, and went their way.

Apostle Joshua Selman Nimmak is my spiritual father.
There are so many things I love about him but I’ll share just five.

It’s his birthday tomorrow and I thought it best to do this now.

Apostle Joshua Selman is a young man of God whose teachings are deep truth of the word of God.

He is a carrier of God’s presence.

His impact cannot be exaggerated or overemphasized.
He finished from ABU and he has been in ministry for not less than 9years, though Eternity Nertwork International (ENI) just clocked 6years in March 2017.
I’m not writing his biography, I’m writing on the things I love about him.

I’ve been attending koinonia for a few years now so I’m not writing from a fan’s point of view, neither am i writing about someone i read about or someone I’ve heard about. I’m writing as a daughter and a disciple.
Attending koinonia, all I can say is that you have to be there to know what’s up. Trying to fully explain the experience is not really possible as my vocabulary is not updated enough to use the magnitude of words I want to.
So here you go, 5 things I love about my father.

  1. Humility : For a man that carries God’s presence and is an envoy of the most high, Apostle is humility personified. He doesn’t just preach the law of honor, he practices it. His spiritual escapades has never made him a showoff. His respect to mothers, fathers and ministers of God, baffles me. 1Peter 5:5. I’m so sure this is one of the reasons God loves him James 4:6, Psalm 138:6. Pride is far from him Prov 16:5.
  2. His command of English language : He has made it clear severally that oratory is different from utterance (he has both). His command of English is something I admire so much. Listening to him and how fluent he is, you’d think learning English language will make you speak that well but that’s a lie. The spirit backs up his words so even if you weren’t really interested in listening, at some point, your mind will be captured, which leads me to number 3.
  3. His ability to capture the minds of people : People attend Koinonia for different reasons and with different intentions but end up surrendering to God and this reminds me of one of Apostle’s saying  “You may come the way you are but you can’t remain the way you are”. He communicates the message of God to people so well that even people that don’t understand English well, understand him. This is one gift God has given to him, the teaching anointing. If he were my lecturer, I would never fail 😊😊.
  4. His smile : It can light up a room, hehe. 😊 I was speaking with one of his closest workers and he said “Apart from the loving father side of him, he’s an administrator and loves organization”. So he doesn’t smile often but when he does, it’ll just melt your heart. It has melted mine many times. He is a beautiful creature (before nko? With all that glory of God shining and radiating on him, what do you expect? Spending time with God will just make you over fine. The secret place beautifies you). And his smile is heavenly. So yea, his smile is yet another reason I love Apostle Joshua Selman.
  5. His sincere desire to see people truly blessed: He has access to several mysteries and secrets of God and he’s not selfish with them. He gives timely messages. Each and every koinonia message carries power. In every message, he dispenses what he has received. He imparts in his workers, he blesses people financially. He gives everything.

There are so many other things I love about him like ; his love for his workers, his sacrificial lifestyle, his ability to make you feel special, his desire to see God glorified in everything he does, his sense of humor and the list goes on unending.

Three of his favorite quotes are ;

  1. “We will all be great and the beautiful part is, we will all know ourselves”.
  2. “You may come the way you are but you can’t remain the way you are”.
  3. “The anointing does not make the difference, the anointing IS the difference”.

Happy birthday daddy, I love, honor and celebrate you.

Happy birthday sir

Finally for those expecting me to write his age, I’m not writing. If you want to know, ask Google. 😀😀😀

Your eyes

The first thing I noticed after your height
They were fascinating.

Your eyes, they revealed so much

Promises for the future. Castles we’d build together.

They communicated with mine quite often.

Revealed your vulnerability

They told me you had a soft part.

Deep down within your strong physical structure is a sweet baby,  who loves totally

They told me when you were happy and when you were not.

They told me when you were excited and when I should be worried.

Dear bestie, your eyes have been snitching on you.

They’ve gotten so close to mine.

I wrote this for you, to let you know you have beautiful eyes that became my friends long before you got close to me ♥

Dedicated to my best friend

Happy birthday in advance ♥

I love you.

He’s hitting me!

Beating women seem to have become the order of the day. 😞

I’m sorry to say, but most of the time, these women cause their own misfortune.
I remember speaking with a family friend whose husband was beating her.

They’d both come to my daddy for counseling

The lady, though much older than I am, is very close to me and tells me everything.

On this fateful day, she was telling me that, that’s how he’d been behaving even before they got married. Although he didn’t really beat her into a pulp then, but a little slap here and a little tap there. Yea, that kind of “stuff”. It amazes me how some ladies find a man hitting them “romantic”. I mean c’mon! That’s disrespect!

If you still see those kind of things as romantic then you’re either immature or there’s something very wrong with your mindset.

Anyways, back to my story, she also told of me of the atrocities he committed with her friend while she was in the house and they thought she was sleeping, and in my mind I was like “And you still married him?! beautiful 👏, very beautiful”

She was bitter saying “I didn’t expect him to start acting like this after marriage, he just started drinking and hitting me”

How did you expect him to behave please??? He should start taking you for prayer meetings and taking you on vacations?

He showed you a tip of the iceberg while dating you and you still went for the whole iceberg by marrying him and now you’re complaining.

I didn’t know what to say to her so I repeated the weak old line

“Every marriage has its own challenges”

But she said “No, Dupe. I know marriages have challenges but most of the men I know, don’t beat their wives, they have other issues that they work on together. My husband has turned me into a punching bag, he even wounded our baby once. He’s become a monster”

In my mind I was like “Ah! Nawa o and you’re still sitting down there, until he kills you and your baby, hmmm”

Anyways to cut the long story short, they were both counselled and prayed for, but trust me, I knew deep within me that that problem had not ended.
My point; You have a guy, a boyfriend or whatever. And he’s slapping you or talking rudely to you and you’re still laughing, Ah! Sister, the devil is sitting on your brain o! You better ask him to stand up before you make a decision you’ll live to regret. If he slaps you now, he’ll slap you again.

Apostle Joshua Selman always says “Marry a man that fears God”

He stresses and emphasizes this all the time and you’ll think it’s becoming a cliché but that’s a life saving advice.

Don’t just join the #SayNoToDomesticViolence Campaign, start checking so it doesn’t happen to you too.

As for me, I’ve never seen my daddy lay his hands on my mom so I’ll never allow anybody’s son hit me.

Even if you were exposed to such at home, that nonesense must not be repeated
And to women under this bondage, it’s time to speak out!

Regardless of what he’s using to hold you down. He’s hitting but you can’t speak out because ; You’re not financially free, You’re scared he’ll kill you if you talk, You “Love” him (That’s not love my dear and even if you love him truly, that’s the more reason you should speak because he needs help)

Speak out!

He’s supposed to cherish, value and care for you, not use you to practice wrestling.

It’s time for ladies to get up and OUT of toxic relationships.

While You Still Have You….

Life as a single is fun.

You don’t know how much freedom and fresh air you have until you get into a relationship.
Being single, helps you discover yourself to a large extent and that’s why it’s not advisable to rush into relationships.

The way you spend your time as a single, determines the kind of relationship you end up in.

Your single life is the only time you have you all to yourself

Believe you me, the moment you get into a relationship (not even marriage), you loose a great part of your alone time, some things will suffer.

The time to actually find yourself is when you’re single. Please don’t go in search for a partner when you haven’t found you.

While you’re still single, is the time to actually press in for more. Search for God.

In his book waiting and dating, Dr Myles Munroe said

Being alone as a single person has many advantages, especially for a believer. One of the greatest of these is the opportunity to give undivided attention to the pursuit of spiritual growth and a deep relationship with the Lord.

The time you are most prepared for dating is when you don’t need anyone to complete you, fulfill you, or instill in you a sense of worth or purpose. You are ready to date when you have first learned how to be single. Learn how to be alone.

Contentment with being alone involves learning how to be fulfilled in your singleness. A truly single person is one who is complete physically, emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually without dependence upon anyone else. Successful singles find their personal identity and sense of wholeness within themselves and in relationship with God. Because they are complete within themselves, only  whole individuals are fully comfortable being alone. They can thrive and prosper whether or not they are involved in a relationship. For such people a relationship is an added blessing; it is icing on the cake.

Be complete in God and in yourself first

Do what you have to do, read as much books as you can, pray as long as you want, reach out to as many people as you can (when you get a partner, there are certain people you won’t be able to reach out to, fully. You’ll be restricted).

Spend time with God.

If you spend your single life with Him, He won’t let you fall into wrong hands.

The best place to find a godly person is on the road to God’s Kingdom.

The best place to find the right person is on the road to fulfilling your purpose.

To the singles, please do what is needful while you still have you.

                HOW I STARTED MY BLOG

Growing up, I’d always loved the pen and paper. I wrote stories on any and everything, I even wrote story books and poems in primary 5 which never got published, some of which I presented at speech and price giving days and got standing ovations and rounds of applause. Writing is my lifestyle, it makes me so happy and excited.
There’s this inner joy I feel whenever I’m writing and I know it’s my passion. I tried starting a blog in JSS 3 but due to one reason or the other, I couldn’t.

So, eventually, I started my blog, I can’t remember the exact date but it was sometime around early 2016 and late 2015.

I didnt know what to do with it at first, so it was empty for months until my passion drove me back to it and that’s how my WordPress journey began and I must say, it’s been an amazing experience. Meeting people that share my passion, people with like minds. Ladies especially, it gives me great joy. Whenever I’m here, I’m at home. Reading and writing and I don’t want to leave.
My blog is versatile but mostly Lifestyle, Style and Gospel.

Even now, in school studying veterinary medicine, my passion for writing has only increased and seeing people like Janet of Lifestyle by janet who is a medical doctor and still runs a beautiful blog well, I’m quite convinced that there’s no stopping me.

P.S: I run a blog on blogger too, check it out Dupe’s blog

                    ADVICE TO NEW BLOGGERS

Follow them closely and learn from them.
Honor and respect them, if possible, make friends with them.

I know you’ve read this one million times but that’s just it. Be consistent. Consistency is key. Continue. Be regular, be dependable, be firm and the sky is your starting point.

    I nominate……..

15 Things I learnt From My Proverbial Girl Devotional.

Happy Ressurection Tuesday 😄😄 (I don’t know if that is a thing but happy easter anyways)

I’m still writing exams so you won’t be hearing/reading much from me for now.

But I thought it’d be nice to share this for the ladies.

My first devotional this year was “The Proverbial Girl ; Wisdom Values & being Fabulous”, recommended by Oreoluwa. Check out her blog here and youVersion posts here and here.

It was amazing and it blessed me, thank you Ore.

I learnt quite a lot from it but I extracted 15 lessons to share. In case you haven’t come across this devotional before, this will bless you and if you have, it still wwill.

    1. Measuring your worth by people’s outward appearances or things will only cause low self esteem and insecurity. Your results are inaccurate if you measure with the wrong thing. A Proverbial Girl knows her true value can only be determined when she measures it by the great potential the Father has already placed on the inside of her. (For her price is far above rubies)
    2. There are certain relationships a girl should cherish and hold well
    3. Jesus is the only perfect friend
    4. Being a 5-star friend does not rest on the person you are on the outside but who you are on the inside.
    5. A good friend knows her friend’s strength and weaknesses
    6. Be soft and beautiful
    7. Wake up and pour your heart out to God
    8. The proverbial girl is consistent and doesn’t give up.
    9. The key to becoming consistent is planning ahead. Counting the cost. (What am I getting myself into and what will I have to be willing to sacrifice) Being determined and having a great support system to help you along the way.
    10. A proverbial girl brings life to everyone around. (Emits positive energy)
    11. Some things make you valuable and some things can destroy your worth. Make a conscious effort to be more involved in the things that make you valuable and begin to pull away from the things that can destroy your value.
    12. Practice thinking before responding. Make it your goal to respond in a soft and beautiful manner regardless of the situation.
    13. The Proverbial Girl also knows how important it is to surround herself with encouraging people who love and want to see her succeed in life.
    14. A Proverbial Girl brings life to everyone around her because she knows she possesses life inside. You may be having the worst day ever, but she has the ability to make your day a whole lot brighter.
    15. The proverbial girl may not have a perfect life but she has a truly beautiful life because she chooses to.

Join me in reading Proverbial Girl: Wisdom, Values, and Being Fabulous:

        Read and live it out

On my way to faculty fellowship this afternoon, I met a classmate and we continued together

I commented on how chubby she’s getting and she said something.

“Why shouldn’t I get fat?, what am I thinking of? The only thing I think about is how to read and not carry over any course and I eat well”

Relating it to me, I began asking myself if the only thing I thought about was reading, eating and not carrying any course over.

No. I have Jesus to think about, I have church to think about, I have my blogs to think about, I have my book to think about, I have my future to think about, I have disciples to think about, I have my values to think about, I have one or two issues to think of, problems that pop up without notice and of course I have school to think about, in no particular order.

        What now happens to me?

This is a short write up, dedicated to students like me who have a little “extra”.

We have different forms of “extra”.

Some students’ extra is struggling to pay their fees, some are married ; their extra is family, some are leaders of ministries and various other platforms, some (like me) have a lot of “extra”, some are battling with sicknesses of all sorts.
To every student out there joining the “extra” with school. You’re stronger than you think.

Just be sure your “extra” is necessary and fruitful.
